Welcome to the latest Ancon newsletter. We've joined forces with Ibstock Kevington to develop Nexus®, the next generation solution to creating brick faced soffits. We're also supporting the recent CARES campaign against non-approved re-bend continuity systems.

Making light work of brick soffits

Creating flawless brick faced soffits has now become much simpler and quicker thanks to the new Nexus® system, developed in partnership with cut brick specialist Ibstock Kevington.

The new Nexus® system combines a lightweight specially developed Ibstock Kevington brick faced unit with Ancon’s tried and tested MDC stainless steel bracket angle support system

The new system offers considerable benefits over traditional cast concrete alternatives. It cuts the weight by more than half, which in most cases will allow the brick faced units to be installed without specialist lifting equipment and provides significant savings in installation time, making it particularly appropriate for fast-track or time-limited projects.

Individual Nexus® units are designed and prefabricated off-site to suit different soffit dimensions so there is no cutting required on-site. They are simply offered up to the pre-fixed and pre-drilled Ancon MDC angle and then bolted into position using T-head bolts.

The quality design allows maximum adjustability, both vertically and horizontally, for quick and simple alignment on site.

Ancon backs CARES campaign against non-approved re-bend systems

CARES, the Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels, has expressed concern at the continued use in the UK of non-approved re-bend reinforcement continuity systems. To address this issue, CARES is running a high profile information campaign in a number of trade journals.

As manufacturer of the CARES-approved Eazistrip re-bend system, Ancon gives this campaign its full support and is keen that the Industry recognises the stringent quality standards met by our product.

“Eazistrip has undergone a comprehensive test programme, including in-situ structural tests to evaluate the performance of the construction joints under loading, and our production processes are independently audited twice a year. The reliability of non-approved re-bend systems is unknown and creates a risk that is easily avoided”

says Ancon Divisional Manager, Hervé Poveda.
