Wall Ties & U-value Calculations
Wall ties are an important element in the stability of cavity walls. Stainless steel ties are corrosion resistant, readily available in various types and lengths, and are 100% recyclable at the end of a long service life.
When calculating the U-value of a wall, it is always important to use the correct cross-sectional area of the wall tie rather than a default value, as this can make a considerable difference to the U-value calculated. Default values for stainless steel wall ties overestimate the cross-sectional area involved. Ancon has successfully value-engineered its wall tie range to provide high performance at a competitive price.

The effect of ties on the U-value of a wall is often insignificant and can be omitted in accordance with EN ISO 6946.
