Current Job Opportunities:

Technical Services Advisor

The purpose of this role is to provide customers with technical advice on the use of Ancon products and to exploit market opportunities leading to product development and increased brand awareness. To produce safe, practical, and cost effective solutions to problems encountered by specifiers and end-users. To support the sales team and provide quotations to customers providing designs and take offs as required. 

Key tasks and Responsibilities:-

  • Producing safe, practical, and cost-effective solutions to design problems posed by both Specifiers and customers.
  • Responding to both verbal and written technical enquiries with solutions using standard products, adaptations, and bespoke items.
  • Reviewing drawings, bills of quantities, and other documentation received from customers to identify the products they require, liaising with them and their design team as necessary to clarify details and/or request information.
  • Carrying out designs to determine correct products; sizes etc. and communicating any details, mark ups, assumptions, etc. to the customer then passing this information on to the Sales team to produce a quotation.
  • Identifying opportunities for new products and the improvement of existing products.

Key Functional Competencies and Relevant Experience:

  • Requires a good understanding of UK construction methods and common details, particularly suited to those with experience in construction products and detailing.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive can do attitude are of paramount importance to this customer service role.

Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in a building or construction related subject
  • Having worked with a construction related design office environment
  • Able to understand Engineering/Technical Drawings
  • Problem solving/Organised/Methodical/AutoCAD
  • Construction knowledge/Computer literate/Microsoft Windows/Good Telephone Manner

Desirable Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree qualification in a building or construction related subject
  • Working knowledge of Ancon products and how they are used within the construction industry
  • Ideally worked as an architectural or structural technician

Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum; depending on experience.

Design Draughtsperson

The purpose of this role is to complete orders placed with the PDM department to our customer’s satisfaction and to manage the available resources to achieve this.

The main duties include:-

  • Order Fulfilment
    • Progress the customer’s order from technical enquiries through to delivery and settlement of account
    • Correspond with customer to request information, communicate problems or notify them of key events.
    • Ensure all team communications with customers are commercially appropriate, clear and informative.
    • Attend site meetings when required to acquire design and program information or resolve problems.
    • Maintain the project file and quality documentation to a high standard
    • Ensure all necessary calculations are carried out.
    • Ensure all necessary drawings are produced and that our designs are illustrated to a good standard. Issue designs and drawings for approval.
    • Co-ordinate approvals and customers instructions to manufacture.
    • Prepare clear and accurate manufacturing drawings and schedules for order processing.
    • Maximise commercial opportunities whilst taking into account pricing issues affecting the customer / project.
    • Resolve manufacturing and delivery issues with production. Provide information to customer as necessary.
    • Resolve credit queries as soon as possible. Liaise with accounts and customers as necessary.
  •  Managing Resources
    • Utilise the available resources ensuring quality whilst maximising efficiency.
    • Assess skill requirements and urgency of incoming tasks and prioritise in consultation with the OFU Team Manager and Project Manager.
    • Provide training and support to other team members.
    • Liaise closely with OFU Team Manager and Project Manager at all times ensuring information regarding projects, customers or team members is communicated. Ensure any developing service or quality issues are reported as a matter of urgency.

Production Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to join our Operations Team. As the Senior Production Engineer you will co-ordinate and provide engineering support to all elements of the Sheffield’s Manufacturing processes. You will be tasked with ensuring all activities onsite are controlled and co-ordinated in a safe, clean working environment with high focus on customer service. You will be challenged on undertaking process improvement projects while ensuring operational excellence and best practice is applied.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively support production teams and processes so that customer orders are delivered on time, in full and to the appropriate standard of quality first time.
  • Analyse current practices, identify opportunities, create solutions and make recommendations for improvements using lean and 6 sigma principles.
  • Investigate problems, analysis root causes and derive effective resolutions.
  • Develop SOP’s, provide training and coaching and ensure individuals reach suitable competence levels and new methods are embedded.
  • Identify unsafe activities, generate solutions and establish safe working procedures.
  • Initiate capex proposals from concept, through feasibility to implementation and ensure best practice is applied in order to maximise material yield, productivity and optimise tool life.
  • Ensure equipment and tooling is kept in a good state of repair and is appropriate to support productivity, quality and capacity objectives.
  • Liaise with all relevant internal and external functions, in particular Sales, Technical and Purchasing.

Candidate Requirements:

You will have a proven track record of leading and participating in improvement projects and be from a Fabrication background. You will ideally have in depth knowledge of Laser cutting, Press braking and MIG welding (manual & robots) but other applicants will be considered.

It is essential that the candidate would have the following key functional competencies and relevant experience:-

  • HNC or Degree in Engineering or manufacturing discipline.
  • Extensive experience gained within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous Production, Mechanical or Lead Engineering experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to senior management.

Senior Engineer

Job Description:

The purpose of the role is to provide Engineering support to all elements of Product Engineering, in order to maintain efficient liaison with all Ancon departments and sites, and aid in the Product Development processes for Ancon. In addition to this have the ability to apply operational excellence principles of best practise wherever and whenever possible, to contribute to ongoing system, equipment and product development processes.

Product Development and Improvement

  • Ensure that suitable products reach the market on time and on budget.
  • Aid in the development of new products and re-engineering of existing products.
  • Ensure the products meet current standards and that NPD maintain awareness of any legislation standards.
  • Provide verification of product performance through mathematical modelling and / or physical testing.
  • Prioritise development of products based on market/customer requirements.
  • Keep Ancon ahead of the development process by maintaining communication with existing customers and further develop communications with individuals or bodies.
  • Share knowledge and experience of concrete and masonry technology; with team members.

Intellectual Property

  • Maintain the intellectual property portfolios of Ancon.
  • Ensure that all Patents and Trademarks are renewed or abandoned as and when appropriate.
  • Assist in the applications for new products and names.

Internal and External Technical Support

  • Provide design and product support and guidance internally to the sales, commercial, specification and design teams; and externally to customers and specifiers.

Product Design Software Maintenance and Support

  • Provide technical support and maintenance as necessary for in-house and external design software.
  • Provide assistance in reviewing the use of applications, ensuring relevance, accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide assistance to co-ordinate the development and maintenance of programs as required.

Regulatory and Advisory Bodies and Documents

  • Liaise with external testing, regulatory and advisory bodies and relevant documentation to ensure that Ancon products comply with standards and forthcoming developments.
  • Draft new policies in accordance with new regulations and codes of practice.

Standard Product Drawings

  • Assist in the control and maintenance of standard product drawings and the technical library.
  • Assist in ensuring that standard drawings and technical files are maintained, controlled and available for all appropriate products.
  • Assist in the maintenance of control systems such that all data is secure so that they cannot be created, modified or deleted without appropriate authorisation.

Flexibility

  • Be flexible in utilising skill and knowledge in order to benefit the business when the need arises.
  • Use all relevant skills and knowledge to perform any other reasonable duties as required by the company.

Health and Safety

Engineer

Job Description:
