We launched our Acoustic Shear Dowel at the UK Concrete Show. Designed to decouple concrete sections in high rise buildings, this dowel reduces the passage of impact sounds through a structure and is ideal for multi-occupancy buildings like hotels, hospitals and apartments. March
Ecobuild 2015 was the setting for the launch of our Acoustic Cavity Wall Ties. These high performance products feature an acoustic isolation element that minimises the transfer of airborne noise and vibration through cavity walls - ideal for various project types from mixed-use developments to cinemas. BBA certification was gained on the unique basalt-fibre Teplo-L-Tie, a low thermal conductivity wall tie suitable for surface fixing. Available to suit cavity widths up to 300mm, it is ideal for today’s super-insulated building envelopes, whether new build or a retrofit application. April
On 21st April, HM The Queen’s birthday, we were proud to receive our second Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
Complementing our 2012 award for Innovation, this year’s award for International Trade recognises our outstanding success overseas, providing Rebar Couplers and Shear Load Connectors to major projects worldwide.
Ancon representatives attended a royal reception at Buckingham Palace and our Deeside manufacturing site was visited by The Queen’s local representative, the Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd. May

Our patented and award-winning range of Lockable Dowels, developed for use at temporary movement joints in post-tensioned concrete frames, was extended with the launch of the Locking Pin, ideal for joints where tension loads are high but there is little or no shear load. August
Our BIM Objects were updated to meet the new NBS National BIM Standard, designed to ensure greater consistency and more efficient collaboration in the UK construction industry. September
Our Cavity Wall Tie Product Selector App, which makes choosing the most appropriate wall tie for any cavity wall construction quick and easy, was made available on the Amazon Appstore for use on Android phones and tablets. October
We launched a range of couplers for joining cryogenic-grade rebar. CTT couplers are independently tested at a cool -168°C and ideal for use in the construction of refrigerated gas storage tanks. November
Just last month we launched Nexus, a lightweight prefabricated brick slip soffit system developed in conjunction with Ibstock-Kevington. Nexus is a fast and efficient means of creating suspended brick features on site, available in any brick type. And finally we continued our long association with the Brick Awards, an annual celebration of the UK’s favourite cladding material, by sponsoring the Most Innovative Use of Brick and Clay Products.  |
