What's been happening at Ancon?

2016 has been another busy year at Ancon with a series of new product launches and industry events which are all recapped below, including our sponsorship of Holi the Elephant, part of the Herd of Sheffield public arts trail, in aid of The Children's Hospital Charity.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and wish you all the best for 2017.

January to June 2016

January

We kicked off 2016 with the launch of the Nexus® brick faced support system, a specially developed Ibstock-Kevington lightweight brick slip soffit unit used in combination with Ancon's MDC brick support angles. The system offers easier handling over precast concrete units, coupled with maximum adjustability, for quick and simple installation on site.

We supported a CARES campaign advising against using non-approved rebend continuity systems. Ancon's CARES approved Eazistrip continuity system has been comprehensively tested to ensure it meets the structural requirements demanded by the industry.

A new range of rebar couplers was launched for joining cryogenic grade bar in specialist applications including LNG/LPG concrete storage tanks.

February

Ancon's MBT mechanically bolted couplers became the first reinforcing bar splicing system to be approved by HAPAS, the Highway Authorities Approval Scheme, providing assurance of the MBT's suitability for infrastructure projects.

March
We launched a Suspended Brickwork technical brochure that demonstrates four ways to securely fix brickwork from above without any visible means of support, including the Nexus®
system which is ideal for large or numerous soffits.

The multi-award winning basalt-fibre Teplo wall tie range, which virtually eliminates heat loss through thermal bridging in cavity wall construction, was extended to include the Teplo-BF which features unique safety ends that improve buildability and enhance mortar bond strength
.

We exhibited at Ecobuild 2016 where the Ancon stand featured a range of new product displays and animated installation videos
. Register here to attend Ecobuild 2017 on 7th-9th March, where Ancon will exhibit its latest innovations on stand E3110.

May
Ancon extended its insulated STC range used to
anchor steel balconies to concrete floor slabs with two new sizes providing a higher resistance to both moment and shear forces. A range of balcony connectors manufactured from stainless steel was also launched for applications where maximum thermal efficiency and corrosion resistance is required.

July to December 2016

August
Teplo-BF, Ancon's innovative low thermal conductivity wall tie, was shortlisted for 'Best Innovation in Insulation' at the Build It Awards.

Following fire tests at BRE Global, Ancon confirmed its innovative basalt fibre wall ties, Teplo-L and Teplo-BF, offer 120 minute fire resistance, making them suitable for buildings of any height (subject to structural performance).

October
Ancon exhibited at Evolving Concrete where it showcased its products for structural concrete connections including KSN Anchors, Shear Load Connectors, Insulated Balcony Connectors and Rebar Couplers.

We launched an online Live Chat facility, operating during office hours, to help website visitors with product selection.

November
Recognising excellence in brickwork, Ancon sponsored the 'Innovative Use of Clay and Brick Products' at the 40th annual Brick Awards.

On 17th November, Ancon sponsored the 48th Concrete Society Awards which celebrates excellence in the concrete industry.

November brought to a close Ancon's sponsorship of Holi, one of the 58 elephant sculptures created for the public arts trail, the Herd of Sheffield. Uniquely designed by professional artists, the elephant auction raised a spectacular £410,600 for The Children's Hospital Charity.

A new animation was launched showing the main limitations of traditional rebend continuity systems while presenting a safer, easier and quicker solution in the CARES-Approved KSN Anchor system.

December
Ancon will exhibit at the UK's largest builders' merchant show, Jewson Live at the NEC in Birmingham on 15th December. Visitors to stand B9 will have the chance to speak to a member of the Ancon team on our comprehensive range of masonry fixings.
