New Product: KSN Anchor Box

The innovative KSN range of threaded anchors has been extended with the addition of the KSN Anchor Box.

Where slab-to-wall connections are subjected to a combination of shear and tensile loads, Ancon now recommends its KSN Anchor Box; a single row of internally-threaded anchors cast into the wall along the slab section centreline, ready to accept Ancon threaded reinforcing bars to complete the connection.

The KSN Anchor Box provides a cost-effective design solution that minimises rebar congestion in both the slab and wall, simplifies bar scheduling and is quick and easy to install. As with all KSN products, the KSN Anchor Box also eliminates the need for manual bar straightening on site.

To complement the new product, Ancon has developed a four-step EC2-compliant design method which has been independently verified by the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield.

The Ancon KSN Anchor is approved by UK CARES (Technical Approval TA1-B 5061)

Advanced Performance Tests on Internal Head Restraints

Recent product improvements to Ancon's IHR range of internal head restraints means gaps of up to 75mm can now be accommodated at a wall head to accept fire or acoustic barriers, extending the previous maximum of 50mm.

To further enhance our technical offering on this product range, additional independent testing has been undertaken to provide engineers and users with a complete understanding of how head restraints perform in both full block and cut block situations.

Head restraints provide a simple support at the top of masonry panels to transfer lateral load from the masonry to the primary structure whilst allowing for some vertical movement between the two materials. Visit the Ancon website to see how using a cut block at this location affects the design resistance of head restraints as an aid to correct specification.

Innovative Ancon rebar connectors used in iconic Russian skyscraper

Innovative and quick-to-install reinforcing bar couplers from Ancon replaced time-consuming lapped joints and minimised reinforcement congestion in the gigantic concrete superstructure of Europe's tallest building; the 87-floor, 462m high helicoidal Lakhta Tower in St. Petersburg.

125,000 couplers, a combination of Ancon CXL threaded and MBT bolted systems, are installed in the tower's immense 3.6m thick concrete foundation raft, where 32mm diameter reinforcement is arranged in 15 layers.

In the central cylindrical reinforced concrete core of the tower, the innovative Ancon CXL Type B Couplers were used which are rotated from one bar to the next to form the connection; ideal where rotating long, heavy rebars into couplers would prove difficult.

We will be showcasing our latest products for high-rise construction at the Tall Building Conference in London on Tuesday 30th April 2019.
