The event which took place at the prestigious Crucible Theatre on Thursday 20th October, consisted of 58 uniquely designed elephants which descended on the city of Sheffield in the summer months.

The auction aimed to raise funds for a highly specialised Multipurpose Fluoroscopy System which obtains real-time moving X-ray images and can be used to identify and stop internal bleeding in vascular trauma injury.

The auctioneers were BBC Bargain Hunt’s Charles Hanson and Associate Director and Head of Northern Auctions for Countrywide PLC, Lucy Crapper, who were driving up the bids while entertaining the audience at the heart warming event.

Director of The Children’s Hospital Charity, David Vernon-Edwards, commented at the auction,

“Tonight has been an absolutely spectacular finale to the Herd of Sheffield. We really can’t thank everyone enough for their generous bids; we have been overwhelmed by the amount raised and are absolutely delighted the trail will leave a lasting legacy for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.”

Ancon supported this event by sponsoring the elephant Holi, who was designed by Liverpool based artist Sophie Green who found inspiration from the famous Indian festival of colours. Watch the video to see the sale of Holi who went for an impressive £4,700! (Ancon may be biased but we think she was worth every penny!).

#FindHoli Twitter Competition

To encourage people to join the trail Ancon ran a Twitter competition. People or Herders (as we like to call them) who found Holi had to take a selfie or twosie or groupsie with the colourful elephant and upload to Twitter using the hashtag #FindHoli.

There were 6 winners, who were randomly drawn, the first of which won a £50 voucher, while the following 5 winners were each awarded a £10 iTunes voucher. Check out some of the entries below:
