Opal 3, Hoyle Street, Sheffield

Ancon MDC Support System
Ancon supplied a unique masonry support system to the construction of Opal 3, an impressive mixed use development on Hoyle Street in Sheffield.
This image shows the special Ancon MDC bracket-angle system used to support the striking curved panels, designed and engineered by Browne Smith Baker and W A Fairhurst and Partners. The Ancon system was fixed by specialist installer, Accufix.
This attractive brick and stone clad project provides accommodation for 1,000 students as well as office and retail space with basement parking. It comprises two separate structures, up to eight storeys high. The development, built by Ocon Construction for the Opal Property Group, also included the refurbishment of a Grade II listed former foundry building.
Ancon designs and manufactures stainless steel support and restraint fixings and can meet the requirements of any masonry-clad development either large or small. Ancon allocates a project manager to each contract in its design office. This dedicated manager liaises with members of the client’s project team to ensure Ancon products are delivered to site to suit the build programme.
