Updates to Shearfix Design Software
Ancon's Shearfix software has been updated. Version 4.2.14 includes the following changes:
- The default beta factor of 1.5 for re-entrant corners has been removed from designs to Eurocode 2. For re-entrant corners the design action Veff will be required which must include the beta factor calculated in accordance with Equation 6.39 of EN 1992-1-1 (Eurocode 2).
- The default factor of 1.25 for re-entrant corners has been removed from designs to BS8110. For re-entrant corners the design action Veff will be required which should be calculated in accordance with clause 3.7.6.3 of BS 8110-1.
- The option of using an orthogonal layout for circular columns has been removed from the software, as some of the studs on the first row would be positioned too far from the column face. This applies to designs for both Eurocode 2 and BS 8110.

CE, UKCA and CE UKNI marking from Leviat
From January 1st 2021, the UK will recognise both the EU CE marking approvals, for a time limited period, and the new UK based approval system, which will be known as the UKCA mark. The EU will only recognise CE marking by EU notified bodies as proof of efficacy moving forwards. Leviat has been working closely with both EU notified and UK approved bodies to ensure compliance is achieved at the earliest possible opportunity and we can confirm that we have obtained all relevant certification.
