Ancon TeploTie Wins Product Innovation Award
Ancon TeploTie, a BBA-approved wall tie manufactured from basalt fibres, has been announced Winner of the Building Product category of the 2010 Self-Build Product Innovation awards.
In addition to a number of stainless steel wire wall ties, TeploTie forms part of Ancon’s low thermal conductivity range. These wall ties improve the energy efficiency of masonry cavity walls by minimising heat loss through thermal bridging.
With a thermal conductivity of just 0.7W/mK, TeploTie is excluded from U-value calculations. This means no additional insulation is required in a cavity wall to compensate for heat loss through these wall ties, minimising valuable wall footprint and providing savings on all associated construction materials.
Ancon is exhibiting its innovative award-winning range at the forthcoming ECO Homes show, an area within the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show dedicated to eco-friendly and energy-efficient solutions (NEC, 18-21 March 2010).
Ancon’s Marketing Manager, Annabelle Wilson, said of the award,
We are very pleased at Ancon to have been recognised by the judging panel for our innovative thinking. Sometimes the significance of small products such as Wall Ties is overlooked, but in this case the important role they can play in delivering more energy efficient buildings has been fully understood and acknowledged.
Although a relatively new product, the Ancon TeploTie has already been used on various super-insulated self-build homes and a handful of high profile projects aiming to achieve zero carbon or Passivhaus standards.
I’m sure this industry award will help highlight the benefits of using these Ancon wall ties to a wider audience.
Ancon’s low thermal conductivity wall ties are available to suit cavities from 50mm to 300mm. TeploTie is exclusive to Ancon and like all Ancon-branded products is available from builder’s merchants and other specialist construction distributors throughout the UK and Ireland.
