Starter Bar System
Ancon Starter Bar System
The Ancon Starter Bar system is designed to increase the speed of construction at joints where continuity of reinforcement is required, or for fixing applications using standard metric bolts or studding. Use of this system can simplify concrete design and eliminate the need to drill formwork or concrete.
The system consists of a bar (or female section), supplied fixed to an Ancon coupler. The continuation bar (or male section) comprises a straight bar threaded at one end to allow connection to an Ancon tapered thread coupler. Starter bars are available in various standard configurations.
The female section incorporates either a tapered thread coupler, which is approved by UK CARES and accepts a tapered thread continuation bar, or a parallel thread adaptor which accepts a standard metric bolt or studding.
Ancon couplers exceed the tensile strength for reinforcing bars to BS 4449: 1997 and are designed to meet the requirements of BS 8110.
Innovative and quick-to-install reinforcing bar couplers from Ancon replace time-consuming lapped joints and minimise reinforcement congestion in the gigantic concrete superstructure of Europe’s tallest building; the 87-floor, 462m high helicoidal Lakhta Tower in St. Petersburg.
Ancon is pleased to announce it has become one of the first businesses to transition its Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHS) to the new International standard ISO 45001:2018.
