Ancon showcased new products at the Concrete Show 2012
Ancon showcased its comprehensive range of products for structural concrete at this year’s Concrete Show and was highly commended in the show's Product Innovation awards for the Lockable Dowel.
Visitors to the show had the opportunity to see the new Lockable Dowel, which is suitable for use at temporary movement joints in post-tensioned concrete.
Other Ancon products on display included the MultiJoint system for ground bearing concrete slabs, Eazistrip reinforcement continuity systems, Isolan insulated balcony connectors and a comprehensive range of threaded and mechanically bolted reinforcing bar couplers.
The Lockable Dowel replaces the need for ‘pour strips’ at temporary movement joints in post-tensioned concrete frames, significantly increasing the rate of construction. It allows initial shrinkage of the concrete to take place before the dowel bar is locked in position with epoxy resin. It has been recognised by both the Construction Products Association and Construct Concrete Structures Group for the site efficiencies it offers.
The enhanced Shearfix design program can be used to carry out punching shear designs to Eurocode 2 and BS8110. Ancon Shearfix is installed within a concrete slab to reinforce column heads against punching shear and consists of double-headed steel studs welded to flat rails. The design software simplifies specification by calculating the optimum stud centres and rail layout.
Teplo-BFR is an innovative basalt-fibre wall tie that features a plain end for resin anchoring into an existing structure and a moulded safety end for building into a new bed joint.
Nexus, the next generation of brick-faced support systems developed through a collaboration between Ibstock Kevington and Ancon, is the first of its kind to achieve British Board of Agrément (BBA) certification for both soffits and lintels.
